Meridien Praxis
Praxis is theory put into practice. Each course starts from first principles in the psychology of service.
I grew up between the UK and France, and my career began on the French Riviera, in a boutique hotel restaurant in Juan-les-Pins. After time spent working with Air France at Heathrow, I moved to Hong Kong for seven years. I provided professional services to one of the world’s most prestigious hotel groups, and I was on the guest-facing team at the city’s most exclusive nightclub, hosting Hong Kong’s movie stars and celebrities. Then came seventeen years in Thailand, working with luxury hotels and golf resort clubs, learning their operations from the inside by deploying the systems that run them. It is an excellent vantage point, if not a glamorous one.
After a 27-year career across Asia, I finally spent time living in Kyoto, where I saw Japanese hospitality at close quarters. A leading Japanese hotel chain subsequently asked me to develop training materials for the opening of their London property, and I have spoken on applying Japanese principles to customer experience at Google’s London headquarters. I speak English, French and Thai, with a little Japanese and Cantonese, and have lived and worked in ten countries.
Throughout, I watched the best people in these places do remarkable things without being able to say how. Most of it left with them. Meridien Praxis is the course I kept hoping someone would write. In the end, I wrote it myself.
